Vicar’s Christmas Letter 2025

Dear Friends

‘Silent night, holy night.
All is calm, all is bright.’

As Christmas draws near, I keep finding myself humming the carols we all know so well.

It amazes me how a simple tune—heard a hundred times before—can suddenly lift the heart, bring a smile, or even move us to tears.

There’s something about Christmas music that reaches us in a way that words on their own sometimes can’t. Maybe that’s because our carols tell the real story of Christmas so simply and beautifully.

In “Silent Night,” we hear the quiet wonder of that holy evening. In “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” we feel the joy bursting out of heaven itself. These songs remind us that, in Jesus, God stepped into our world—right into the mess and muddle of everyday life—to bring hope and light.

And when we sing them together, something special happens. We’re connected—not just to one another, but to generations before us who have sung the same words and found the same comfort.

In a season that can feel busy, noisy, or even a bit overwhelming, a good carol sung with others can steady the soul and enable the flickering light of hope to continue shining in our lives. Hope for better times to come. Hope for peace in our world.

So as we gather for our Christmas services, I hope you’ll join in with full voice – whether you can hit the high notes or not! Please bring a friend or family member to one of our services who hasn’t been before. Let’s raise the roof!!!

May the joy of these traditional Christian  songs never be lost, but warm our hearts and remind us what Christmas is really about: God’s love, freely given, for each and every one of us.

Wishing you peace, hope, and plenty of joyful singing this Christmas.

Please see below for our Christmas services.
